It’s been a year since Hout Bay pizza maestro, Massimo, was declared cancer free after undergoing treatment for leukaemia in Italy, and receiving a bone marrow donation from his wonderful sister, Loretta.
To celebrate, Massimo and Tracy threw a fantastic fundraiser at their Hout Bay restaurant, with proceeds going to The Sunflower Fund and DARG.
Packed to the brim, Massimo’s guests dined on fantastic fresh pizzas that never seemed to stop coming out of the pizza oven, and raised over R7,200 to donate to these two worthy causes in a very entertaining auction. Presided over by Tom Purcell from Republic Radio, guests including Pete Goffe-Wood (from Masterchef SA), local fellow restauranteurs, as well as patrons from all over Cape Town all bid high on an array of amazing prizes and the night ended – as promised – with Massimo and his chef shaving their heads once their auction target was met!
I was very happy to be able to donate my time to photograph this wonderful event – congratulations Massimo and Tracy.
