All businesses appreciate regular clients, but the way I see it, family photographers are amongst the happiest to hear from previous clients – and for reasons that have nothing to with business.
I got into this field because I have a passion for children as well as photography, and absolutely adore capturing their natural and spontaneous portraits. So for me, there is nothing more special than to see the little babies and toddlers I’ve photographed in previous years now growing into confident, articulate, independent individuals. And when they remember me and play me up with cheeky expressions and off-guard cuddles, I am even more thrilled.
Andrea wanted to book a shoot over the December period, to capture some shots of the extended family together while her brother, nephew and parents visited. We opted for a home shoot at their Constantia home, and focused on the classic family portraits (‘the framers’), and documentary lifestyle shots of the cousins playing, and enjoying their grandparents attention.
Whilst I think all family images are invaluable, grandchildren-grandparent photographs have an extra special place in my heart. The old and the young connecting and bonding, and all that no-pressure, fuss-free love…. just to witness it is a beautiful thing – but to be privileged enough to capture makes my soul sing.
