I’ve done a few photoshoots for this lovely family before, all at their Hout Bay home, but this is the first time that the very photogenic Jasper has been in front of my lens. He is one cute four month old!
When I’m asked why I’ve chosen photography as a career, I can get quite emotional. I just feel that you can’t put a value on classic, beautifully clean and sharp family photographs. I can imagine there is no greater feeling for a young child, or a teenager, or an adult who’s now a parent, to see photographs from decades ago, of your parents holding you. Murmuring calming rhymes to you, giggling with you, gazing at you, and just loving you so much, that they can’t quite believe you’re possible. I like to think that a close family fosters happy beings, and that visual proof of your family’s connections can only be a positive thing in your upbringing and your life. Which is why I love doing what I do.
I could go on, but I won’t (for now). Here are some of the photos that bought a little lump to my throat from this shoot with the sublime baby Jasper, his lovely and gentle mum Helen, and his doting Boxer sidekick.
